How to Prevent Infections After You Get Your New Celtic Tattoos

If you have chosen to get a new Celtic tattoo, the first thing you need to do is find a professional tattoo artist. Many tattoo artists carries a range of different types of tattoo designs you can choose from. If you don’t see anything you like you can ask the artist to design a custom tattoo, or find your own custom design. Make sure that you choose something that you will be satisfied with for the rest of your life. But also very important is taking care of your new tattoo, once it’s done.

The Part Of The Tattoo Artist

A professional artist will clean and dress your tattoo with an antiseptic ointment as they work on it. A skilled artist knows that this will keep your tattoo healthy. When the tattoo is completed, the artist will proceed to wipe it, clean it, and dress it with an extra layer of ointment. He/she will place a tissue or cellophane over the tattoo, after they apply the ointment.

Artist’s Instructions

Next the artist will tell you how to take care of your new tattoo. Some of the more professional artists will talk to you and give you a sheet of instructions with all the things you will need to do and know. If the artist does not explain anything to you, you will be left wondering how to take care of your new tattoo. Taking care of a tattoo is easy, as long as you know the do’s and the do not’s.

What You Need To Do

  • When you go home, the last thing you should do is jump straight into the shower. You need to keep your tattoo dry as much as possible within the first few days, and clean it every few hours. Make sure your hands are clean before you touch or clean your tattoo. As long as your hands are clean, you don’t have to worry about an infection.
  • Visit a drugstore or pharmacy and pick up a tube of A&D ointment, this is the best ointment to apply. It will keep your tattoo clean and it will need to be used within the first few days of getting your tattoo. When the ointment dries, wipe it off and apply some more. Make sure that you are gentle when you wipe, or you can harm the healing process. Do not use soap on it for a few days within of getting your tattoo.
  • After about 5-6 days, you shouldn’t have to use the ointment. You will notice after the first time of using the ointment, that it works to keep your tattoo healthy. When you are done using it, you need to move on to using an unscented body lotion. Lotions that have scents can irritate the skin under your tattoo. You can stop using the lotion after a couple of days. Once tattoos heal they tend to scab, try not to pick at it or you can damage your tattoo design. It is best just to leave the tattoo alone. You can apply the A&D ointment to ease the comfort of itching.
